BESS Contract Structure Analysis and Procurement Support

SGP assisted Snohomish Public Utilities District (SnoPUD) in evaluating multiple options for achieving system cost savings using a battery energy storage system (BESS) including self-build, design-build-transfer, and contracted offtake options.  After evaluating pros and cons of each option and facilitating the selection of a contracted off-take option, SGP assisted SnoPUD in developing its preferred Energy Storage Agreement (ESA) contract and running an RFI and RFP process.  SGP advised SnoPUD in ESA contract negotiations resulting in an executed contract for a 25 MW BESS.

"SGP’s combined expertise with battery technologies, current market conditions, and contractual mechanisms helped our management team select a BESS project structure that was cost-effective and the best fit for our power supply needs."
Garrison Marr, Senior Manager, Power Supply, SnoPUD
